Impact of real-time data on validation of meteorological products/forecasts/warnings

Performance Criterion Description:

Validate aeronautical meteorological data, products, forecasts and warnings (timeliness, completeness, accuracy), using real-time checks.

Scenario:     

During an assessment period the forecaster is given a flawed set of data for the forecast region. The forecaster needs to recognize and reject the erroneous data when producing the forecast.  

Evidence:

During the analysis/diagnosis/forecast process the forecaster

• knows the content, accuracy, timeliness and validity of the issued meteorological products
• applies the proper verification methods for the available data
• errors recognized and discounted by comparing observational data (incl. Sat, radar, etc) against issued products
• error propagation on the different temporal or spatial validities
• change of the conceptual models considered, change of the data used in the forecasting process
• Forecaster issue amended products
