Forecasting cloud

Performance Criterion Description:

The forecaster must apply meteorological knowledge and skill in forecasting cloud type, height, opacity, etc. 

Scenario:       

Throughout an assessment period the forecaster is asked forecast cloud for an area of responsibility.  The parameters may include type, amount, opacity, height of bases and height of tops.

The forecaster must apply the appropriate forecasting techniques including

• conceptual models
• climatology
• interpret remote sensing data
• utilize numerical and statistical guidance
• apply thermodynamic principles and reasoning
• apply extrapolation techniques
• persistence
